Date of Competition: 30th March 2011
Organiser: Lyn Jenkins
Objective:
The objective of the Panel Portfolio Competition is to promote the transfer of photographic
skills and create member relationships through the compilation of portfolios of photographs
on chosen subjects by small teams of members working together.
To enable new members to be incorporated into teams, to learn from each other and share experiences,
all teams must
comprise at least one member that joined the club in the 2009/10 or 2010/11 seasons.
The choice and presentation of these portfolios (“panels”) will be governed by the following rules…
Rules:
For entering the competition:
- The competition will run from the date of the 2010 AGM until the closing date of the competition for the 2010-2011 season.
- The closing date for entries for the panel competition will be announced by the organiser
in good time. This will be an absolute date and no entries will be accepted after the end of the club evening on that date.
- All images used in the panel MUST have been photographed between the 2010 AGM and the
eventual closing date of the competition (see above).
- Entries will ONLY be accepted from “teams” of, minimum two members and maximum of three
members (see note (a)) which MUST include at least one new member. A new member is
a member that joined in either the 2009/10 season or 2010/11 season. ONLY one “panel”
may be submitted by each team and members may ONLY contribute to the effort of ONE chosen team.
- Each team member MUST make a contribution in some direct way to the teams “panel”. That is,
taking, printing or mounting the images, or some part in each or any of these activities (see note (a)).
- Media may be silver/wet, digital or a combination of both techniques.
- PRINTS ONLY will be acceptable. These will be a maximum size of 25.4cm x 20.3cm (10”x8”)
and may be in colour or black and white (black and white prints may be toned). Paper texture will be
at the team’s discretion and a variety of surfaces may be used in a single panel.
- All prints MUST be mounted. Mounts will be a maximum size of A3, with no restriction
on the minimum size to be used. Style and colour of mounts will be at each team’s discretion.
- The MAXIMUM number of prints in any panel will be eight (8) and the MINIMUM six (6).
These may be presented in either landscape or portrait format, colour or black and white, or a combination of both.
Note...
- The committee have no control over several of the conditions imposed in these rules (such as ensuring that each team member makes some contribution to each team’s effort). So, it is worth pointing out that this competition is being organised essentially for the enjoyment of us all, and as such these issues are a matter of good faith between all participants.
